How to Create Email Accounts in cPanel Print

  • 3

By default, you have no email account set up. The main username may look like it is setup as an email, but if you wish to use it, you will need to add it as an email account. The instructions below will guide you through creating an email account in cPanel.

1) Log into your domain that is using cPanel. You will see a welcome screen with all of your options that you have.

Cpanel Login

2) Click on your Email Accounts icon to get to the screen where you create your email accounts.

3) Put in your chosen username. That is what it will be for you to give out (e.g. name@website.com). All you will need to put in is the username.

4)
Enter in the password. You want something that is not going to be easily figured out, but one you will remember. cPanel has a utility that will tell you how secure your password it.

Here are the fields you need to fill in, in order to create your new account:

  • Email - enter the email address you want to create. Note, that you can choose only from domains, associated with your account - your primary domain and all addon and parked domains.
  • Password - select a strong password for your new email account. The password strength meter will help you make it secure enough.
  • Mailbox Quota - choose the size of the mailbox. Note, that different accounts have different maximum mailbox size. You will see a note with your specific limitation above this field.

Once you're ready, press the Create Account button at the bottom. That's it, in few seconds, your new email account will be created.

The same steps work for creating email accounts for your primary domain, addon domains and subdomains. You cannot create email accounts with a script or via SSH.
